What do you do at Vert?
The great thing about Vert is that you can get involved in everything that happens here but my main focus is that I define and plan developments to our Conical Rotary Compressor (CRC) technology ranging from projects of a few weeks up to 2+ year programmes. Product developments and technology commercialisation are the main focus of my day and I often find myself supporting dialogues with OEM customers who are keen to apply our CRC technology to their particular application. Alongside that I also manage and grow the company’s patent portfolio.
How long have you been with the company?
I joined Vert in July 2017 as I found the technology really intriguing. The company has developed rapidly since that point and it feels like the CRC technology is really gaining momentum and interest in many different sectors.
What does your typical day involve?
At present my role is fairly desk-based but I try to get into the R&D lab and make the most of getting hands on when I can.
What has been your favourite moment/thing at Vert?
For me, nothing beats the feeling of satisfaction from seeing the first unit of a new product I have worked on being despatched to a customer. It is also hard to beat the moment that I learned that Vert had started selling products based on word of mouth recommendations from existing customers.
What inspires you?
I’d like my children to know that I did my bit to make the world more secure and sustainable for people and nature. One of the projects that I am working on at the moment is to plan and then implement developments to our CRC technology for applications such as heat pumps and expanders. It is good to know that I am potentially ‘doing my bit’ both in work and out of work to help reduce climate change.
